Update on Lacy

Just a quick update for those who might be wondering how Lacy is doing. We went to the doctor today, and Baby Breylon is supposedly 5lbs 12 oz now. (still not sure how they can tell that so exactly, but whatever). Lacy is 1 cm dilated, so I guess things are progressing as expected. Her due date is January 13th. I'm wondering if she will actually make it that far.

Saturday, November 22, 2008

Well, here I sit, in the wee hours of the morning, once again, up WAY before I should. I know I'm going to pay for this later today. I was going to go back to bed but for some reason my coffee started brewing at 2:40a.m..someone pushed buttons on my coffee maker again. So, I am sitting here reading blogs, drinking coffee, and wishing I could clear my mind of junk and sleep. Well, no chance of that, now that I'm drinking my coffee.

I was just reading some of my friends blogs and thinking, "you know, I used to be able to really write from deep within myself." For some reason I can't get there anymore. Maybe it's because I don't really like what's there. I don't know. I just feel like the door is closed. I can't get to it. I feel like it's there and I want to write it but the words don't come. And when I do get something out I usually regret it. I'll probably wish I hadn't posted this for all the world to see.

In light of that observation, I'm going to stop this post and pick up my journal, where only me and the Lord can see the thoughts of a crazy lady, like me.

Baker family updates..

Ok, maybe I should call this "Monthly Grace" instead of "Daily Grace". Here I am again with an update on our family happenings.

Mercy turned two on November 2, 2008. I can't believe it's been two years.
(there are lots of candles because we shared the cake with Shaelyn for her birthday. She turned 12 on October 28,2008)

So much has happened in that amount of time for us. I won't even try to go into it all, but I will say, God is pruning us, and apparently there are ALOT of dead branches and junk that is not producing good fruit that needs to come off. Sometimes I wish He'd just do it all at once and get it over with , but I guess that's not the way we learn. So, snip, snip, snip....grace....snip, snip, snip......grace...snip, snip, CHOP,....more grace. Praise Him for His daily measure of grace just when and how I need it.

Some very kind and loving ladies at our church opened up their lives and home and hosted a baby shower for Lacy. It was so nice. Lacy and I both were overwhelmed at the turn out and the "showering" of gifts and love. There were about 30 people there.

Texas State Fair

Our family has not been to the fair since Lacy was about 5 or 6 and Micayla was in a stroller. This year we were blessed to get free tickets for the entire family AND free parking, so we all went. We had so much fun just being together and doing something with little time constrants attached. Even the baby was impressed and kept quite enamourated the entire 7 hours. By the end of the day we were SO tired, as you can see in some of the pictures, it will remain one of our fondest memories.

Some things we will remember about the fair:

Daddy dancing in the street with his girls...
Big Tex
King Tut
$5.00 Corny Dogs (good, but $5.00?!!)
Fried Cheesecake (again, $5.00)
The ride called The Extreme (we didn't ride it but it was exciting just watching it...a $15.00 ride)
Heart shaped waterfall
The nice carnie who gave Shaelyn a free win and a free prize at the water shooter game
Lacy couldn't ride anything...bummer
Mom and Shaelyn on the Spaceship Ride (another $5.00...per person!)

Ok, the fair has really gotten expensive over the past 10+ years, but it was worth it for all of the great memories.

Click here to see more Fair Pictures. (sorry, I haven't quite figured out the best way to get all of the pictures on the blog.)
